Windows Server 2016 device CAL as a used volume license. Licenses one device for access to server services, regardless of how many people work at it.
When the device CAL is the right form
In shift work and at shared workstations. A terminal on the shop floor at which three people work over the course of a day needs one device CAL rather than three user CALs. The same applies to checkout stations, thin clients and production computers. Where one person works with several devices, on the other hand, the user CAL is cheaper. Mixing both forms is permitted and usually the most economical solution.
Do not forget devices without a fixed user
When assessing needs, devices that are not assigned to anyone personally regularly fall through the cracks: machine computers, scanner stations, time-tracking terminals. They also access server services and require a license. Describe your environment to us and we will count it together.

The license agreement in your company's name, the transfer declaration covering your quantity, the previous owner's deletion confirmation and evidence of the chain of title. These documents are part of the delivery and cost nothing extra.
What happens if the quantity I need is unavailable?
Then we tell you before you start planning. The shortfall can often be sourced at short notice; where that is not realistic, we suggest an alternative or advise against it. We do not make commitments we cannot keep.
Do I need additional client access licenses (CALs)?
