Why Pro and why as a volume license
In a business environment there is hardly a way around the Pro edition. Only it can join a domain, and it supports group policies, BitLocker encryption and Remote Desktop access to the device. Home licenses are also tied to the first device and cannot be managed centrally.
As a volume license, Windows Pro can be rolled out and activated centrally instead of unlocking each device individually. This is exactly what this license type is made for. It is also not tied to the hardware, unlike an OEM license: if a computer is replaced, the license moves with you.
What the price difference per workstation adds up to
For a single computer the saving is modest. It becomes interesting as soon as you think in fleets. The gap between a used volume license and a new license arises per workstation and multiplies with every unit. Anyone setting up forty workstations from scratch is looking at an order of magnitude that is a budget item in its own right. In the quote we set the saving against the current list price, so that you can document the amount internally.
Windows 10 or Windows 11
Regular support for Windows 10 ended in October 2025. Since then, security updates are only available through the paid extended program, and only for a limited time. For newly set up workstations, Windows 11 Pro is therefore the right choice. Windows 10 remains an option for devices that do not meet the hardware requirements of Windows 11 and will be replaced in the foreseeable future anyway. We tell you where you stand with every license, instead of selling you a version that is being phased out.

Hardware requirements for Windows 11
Windows 11 requires certain security features in the hardware. With older devices this is the decisive question, and it should be settled before procurement.
Not tied to the hardware
Unlike an OEM license, a volume license may be transferred to a replacement device. Over its period of use, this increases the value considerably.
Central activation
Via a multiple activation key (MAK) or your own activation service. Both spare you the individual activation of every computer.

Is Windows 10 still worthwhile?

What is the difference from an OEM license?
An OEM license is permanently tied to the device it was delivered with and is lost when that device is retired. A volume license may be transferred to a replacement device and managed centrally.
Can I go back from Windows 11 to 10?
Through the downgrade rights this is usually possible with volume licenses. We note what specifically applies for every license.
