The math that speaks for the perpetual license
The difference between a perpetual license and a subscription is not a matter of taste, but a question of period of use. A subscription costs every month, permanently, and ends with the last payment. You pay for a perpetual license once and use it for as long as the version is supported.
The rule of thumb from practice: if you use Office for more than about three years in the same version, the perpetual license is cheaper. With used volume licenses this threshold moves forward considerably again, because the entry price is lower.
What you do not get for it
Frankly: new features. The perpetual license stays at the feature set of its version and receives security updates, but no enhancements. For daily work with Word, Excel and Outlook this is generally irrelevant. If, on the other hand, you depend on real-time co-editing in the cloud, you are better off with the subscription. We tell you that even when it argues against a sale.
What to check before you buy

Standard
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote and Publisher. Covers the classic office workstation completely and is the right choice for most workstations.
Professional Plus
Additionally Access, as well as extended functions for compliance and collaboration. Worthwhile if Access databases run in your company. The extra cost is only worthwhile where these functions are actually needed.
One version across the whole team
Newer versions open older files without problems, the reverse may lead to display problems. Where documents are worked on jointly, a uniform version is worthwhile.
Mind the end of support
Security updates are provided as long as the version is supported. With older versions this period becomes short. We give you the date for every license before you commit.
Frequently asked questions
Will I still receive security updates?
Yes, as long as the version is supported. We give you the end of support for every license, so that you know how long you are covered and when the next switch is due.
Does Outlook work with a cloud mailbox?
Yes. The perpetual license concerns the application on your computer, not the mailbox behind it. Which combination of Office version and mailbox service is supported depends on the age of the version. We check this for your case as well.
Can I transfer the license to a new computer?
With volume licenses, moving to other devices within the company is usually possible. This is one of the main advantages over OEM licenses, which are tied permanently to the hardware.
How does activation work with many workstations?
Via a multiple activation key or via your own activation service in-house. Both are made for volume licenses and spare you the individual activation of every computer.
What is the difference from a Home version?
Home licenses are intended for private use and are not permitted in a business environment. They are also tied to the first device and cannot be managed centrally.
From what quantity are there tiered prices?
The tiers usually begin at ten units and become more significant at 25 and 50. Tell us the number of workstations and we will calculate the tier for your needs.
